Dr. Bernice A. King talked with Ellen about how her mother, Coretta Scott King, planted seeds of knowledge to help her grow in the aftermath of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination. From teaching her not to hate the person that killed her father, to never making a decision in anger, the collection of seeds built strong roots in her as a person. Dr. King also shared what her father would say in response to the protests following George Floyd’s death and Black Lives Matter movement.
